What do we listen to when we’re driving together besides 90’s hip hop? Podcasts. A LOT of podcasts. And we’ve collected our 3 favourites that actually IMPROVE your relationship. Yep, we listen to these and often have a laugh of knowing guilt, a great discussion, or make actual changes to our relationship.
Here’s our favs in no particular order:
This is your go-to podcast for fun, easy ways to get your feet wet into relationship podcasts. This is a newer podcast hosted by best selling author Rachel Hollis and her Husband Dave where they share funny, relatable stories about how they do marriage. A perfect starting place.
Emily is this cute little woman we just want to put in our pockets and she holds nothing back while talking ALL the things sex. If you’ve ever wondered questions like toys for men, orgasms, lube and more, Dr. Emily has your back.
3. Where Should We Begin by Esther Perel
Ever wondered what couples therapy is like? Listen to this one. French couples therapist Esther airs (with consent) actual couples therapy sessions from all corners of relationships. LGBTQ, marriage, and a lot of sex—it’s so enlightening to be a fly on the wall for these sessions. (And get a clearer picture of what therapy is really like!
This is not one for delicate ears. The savage is real in the honest and slightly brash way. The information and topics are all on the edge of things you’ve probably wondered about with great guests and a slightly controversial delivery. This one has been around the block a few times. Great for discussions and shocking yourself, just a little.
5. Dear Sugar
Author Cheryl Strayed previously worked as an anonymous advice columnist for years and continues that format with empathy and compassion on all topics but mostly relationships. She is kind and knowledgeable when it comes to her answers. We give this one a solid recommendation!
6. Modern Love
This one is a little different. Folks write in essays on their stories about relationships, widowing, divorce, parenthood etc and familiar voices (think celebrities) read them. It’s a great podcast to visit when you want to feel less alone. It’s great at showcasing the multitude of different situations and folks in the world—and it’s fun to hear these stories in voices you recognize!
There you have it! Our top 6 podcasts for relationships. We suggest starting with Rise Together, Sex With Emily or Where Should We Begin for your next house cleaning session, commute to date night, or listen separately and schedule a time to share your thoughts on it together!
Tell us, did we miss any? What would you add to this list?
