Wow. This round was SO different that other rounds we’ve hosted of this Retreat Style Workshop for REAL-ationships.
In the past we’ve had couples, cousins, friends, and singles attend but not quite like this.
This round we had ZERO couples attend together.
It was all singles and one half of a partnership there.⠀
For many reasons this was how this latest round shook out and can we tell ya—we wouldn’t have had it any other way. There were folks who joined us from all walks of life, relationship histories/statuses and even returning guests!
As always, we protect the intimate vibe at these events. We carve out a safe space to learn, listen, share, laugh, and relate. But most importantly we cultivate a space to share and grow. The folks that joined us this time did all that and more. Sweet friends, they were AMAZING.
Listen, we aren’t experts.
We are just two people who have failed a lot and want to start these conversations and share the resources that have worked for us over the years. We want to present them for our guests to take what they want and leave what they don’t. AND at the same time, because everyone who joins us has valuable experiences and knowledge to share, they do the same. They gift us with their stories, their learnings, and their vulnerability.
THAT is what made this event so different, too.
The perspective this group had and the way they shared it with us all was unlike any other. As we were talking quietly in the night when we got home from the event, we concluded that it was so special this time because of the unique group we had. THEY made it so incredible and awesome. They made it different in the best way. Thank you, guys.
When we started The Relationship Project is was really a passion fuelled message and we had no idea it would resonate so well. We simply wanted to share what we’ve learned, expose the real side to relationships, and help others achieve the heights of a genuine and authentic relationship.
It’s always scary for us to host these events, it’s not like we’re professional experts, PhD’s, or magical unicorns–we’re learner’s, sharer’s, and too-curious-for-our-own-good-er’s. We’re always scared to show our messy-ness, our tools, and our failures. We always have those gremlins scaring us into thinking, “Oh no. Is this going to suck?” “What are we doing?”
We’ve had a rough journey through our relationship and we were determined to grow and learn as much as we could.
The beauty is in the mess.
That’s where the juicy, delicious learnings of these workshops are held; in the accumulation of years of research, techniques, therapy, tools, tips, stories, wisdom and experiences, all hand delivered to you.
We deliver it in the hopes of creating a catalyst for change and tangible ways to apply these learnings to your relationships.
And, if we can so humbly express, we feel like that truly happened during this event. But, please don’t take our word for it, here’s a glimpse into what our new friends had to say about their experience:
- Jake and Taylor displaying their vulnerability and being candid about the relationship with the participants is the highlight of this event.
- It is a potent, on point way of displaying similarities among all relationships without the façade of words such as “we all have these worries” or any variation of these sentiments.
- Hearing this material from you guys made me see you in a new light!
- The most useful part of the event was the storytelling and sharing. You can relate and help apply it to situations that I could possibly encounter in the future.
- THE FOOD! Hahahaha! My favourite was hearing other people’s stories and advice. Also, to see videos of other’s point of views and perspectives!
Wow, right?
We are clutching our hearts and happy dancing at this impact, but do you want to know who the real credit goes to? All of those friends who joined us. (Yes, you!)
The way our workshops are designed is unique, you really get out of it what you put into it. And for our friends to feel this much value says SO much about how they showed up to do the work. Again, you guys are freakin’ ROCK STARS. (Yes, we know, we said it, again!)
We can’t forget to thank our generous sponsors that make this event so much more awesome. We felt like Oprah at every turn. (You get a gift! You get a gift! You get a gift!!). They made this event so much more fun and exciting! Thank you guys for helping to make this event happen and letting us feel like Oprah.
