Date Night Fail

HIGHLIGHT REEL ALERT!

A date night Saturday AND a sleep in Sunday?? How lucky are we??

–cue the DJ scratch to stop this record.
So this statement is partially true, we did have a date night to IKEA last night and slept in this morning.

But–you guys know that’s not the whole story,  just the HIGHLIGHT REEL.

The REAL story was a planned IKEA date night that failed because after the hubs got home from work (on the weekend) we were running late. We missed the cheap (budget dates anyone?) IKEA cafe dinner because of our tardiness, resulting in two HANGRY people.

We had a family function to attend (even on our date night) so on our way there, after our attempted date, we scarfed take out fries, not before stopping in to see some friends near by.

Cue typical awesome, loud, family gathering–it was a blast but, romantic?

Not so much.

Deciding to salvage our date night we left early to head home and watch a recorded basketball game and re-heat left over pizza.

Being exhausted from the week we both fell asleep during the second quarter. Only to wake up on the couch, crimped and crumpled, to go to bed at 3 AM.

So you bet we slept in this morning because of our late night, but only to a whopping 8AM because of our early rising dog. We happened to squeeze in a quickie before letting the dog out to pee, then pancakes, and back to working again on the weekend.

Don’t let the highlight reel fool you, REAL relationships take work, effort, and are hardly ever perfect or planned. Our date-night FAIL was really a win, regardless of how it went, we were together, laughing through most of it (minus the HANGER) and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Happy Sunday! May your day go smoothly and be full of real love. We’re hoping ours will be, too!
