Relationship Cupcake

in Tips on 11/29/16

PASSIONATE love making, GORGEOUS wedding, snuggles, smiles and hand holding–that’s what marriage is right? WRONG.

Let’s pretend your relationship is a cupcake.

These extraordinary moments are only a small part of the cupcake of marriage, the sprinkles, if you will. But guess what?

A good cupcake needs more than sprinkles.

Quality ingredients, batter, icing–that’s what sets a great marriage cupcake apart from the rest. These crucial components are the ordinary moments.

Screen doors slamming, taking the dog out, doing laundry, grocery shopping, arguments, laughter, jamming in the car, chores and errands, late nights and early mornings. The way they smell fresh out of the shower, how they kiss your forehead, or know your favourite drink.

The secret to making these ordinary moments much more potent? Gratitude and intention.

We challenge you to start making note of the ordinary things about your partner and relationship that make your heart sing and tug on the corners of your smile. Then, let them know about it! Show your appreciation for those things. Once you start sharing them with each other, you can start performing them with intention. The intention to be grateful, to express love, to share in happiness.

Those ordinary moments are what makes the extraordinary so special. Putting work, time and energy into your ordinary moments is where an amazing relationship cupcake shines through. Oh–and then when those sprinkles are added, it’s even more irresistible!
